In March of 2022, after a lengthy re-zoning process, PENLER acquired 32.4 acres in Mt. Holly, North Carolina just west of Charlotte. PENLER will construct a 314-unit luxury rental community featuring a restaurant with river views. The property is located off exit 27 on Interstate 85 at the end of Caldwell Drive, and directly across from the new $235 million, 66-bed Caromont Health hospital and medical campus scheduled to open in late 2024. The location offers residents easy access to the Charlotte CBD and Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Additionally, downtown Belmont and Mt. Holly are both only minutes away offering a variety of unique shopping and dining options with a historic downtown main street feel.
The development will offer one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments featuring open floor plans and nine-foot ceilings, generous kitchens with stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops, wood grain plank flooring and ceiling fans.
Amenities will include a resort-style pool, outdoor gas grills, a package locker for deliveries, a clubhouse, lounge and business center, and a commercial caliber fitness center featuring a cardio and yoga/spin area. The architecture is river lodge inspired and the site plan features a large courtyard, riverfront views, and dog park. The site benefits from being directly across the river from the US National Whitewater Center – a 1,300 acre recreation and athletic training facility for whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and ice skating. Residents will also have access to a new multi-use path that will connect Caldwell Drive and YMCA Drive which will eventually become part of the Catawba Thread Trail.
First residents were welcomed in September 2023 and final completion was achieved in April 2024.
